ABOUT US
"I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name." Revelation 3:8
Philly Connect™ is a dynamic community of young adults who are focused on spiritual growth and are serious about their walks with Christ. From career to relationships, health and life in general, we know that we get plenty of worldly advice and not enough God-centered advice. We focus on helping make a God-centered quality walk a reality for every Philly Connector by being a safe place to discuss the things of God, to be real and open and talk about the difficult things and challenges life brings and to admonish and encourage each other through prayer, fasting and studying and discussing the word.
We are named after the church of Philadelphia, a church in Revelation 3:7-13 which God commended for their faithfulness. Our growing community of young, vibrant, and faith-filled adults come together each week to catch up with each other, study the word and engage in spirited discussions on how to be more obedient in our day-to-day lives.
While we’re serious about the things of God, we like to have fun too! We pray and play in a variety of ways such as our annual relationship series and conference, girls’ and guys’ nights, our annual Friendsgiving and Christmas dinner, game nights, brunches and so much more.
Check out where and when we meet next here. We hope you can join us soon!
Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
REVELATION 3:10
A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
Hi Fam,
Philly Connect™ was birthed from a passion to encourage young people in Christ. I knew just how difficult life’s challenges could be without having like-minded friends around. Without young people who could give you Godly encouragement, advice and stand with you in prayer. Other young people who truly cared about the things of God and living with Christ.
I moved home for a couple of months to figure life out, and that’s when Philly Connect™ began. While journaling God, I asked Him how could I encourage my friends to desire more of Christ. Soon after, a friend messaged me and suggested we start a small group while I was at home. We both wanted to see our peers grow spiritually and become spiritual giants. After praying and fasting, we started Philly Connect™.
I know that we are entering a time where the world will look different than what we know, and I believe God has called our generation to be set apart, to be prepared to truly be his disciples. My desire is for all of us to be loyal and effective in kingdom work because we obey His word and lift God up in the way we live our lives. My prayer is that Christ will delight in our lives because we live for him wholeheartedly and bear good fruit as we continue to seek Him.
I am thankful and blessed to say that since we held are first bible study in summer of 2015, we’ve been going strong ever since. I can’t wait to see how God will continue to use this group for His glory!
With Love,
Carin
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Scriptures
Every word in the original writings is inspired by God and is without error. It is accurate in all matters to which it speaks, spiritual, historical, and scientific. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the foundation of the faith. (II Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:21).
The Godhead
There is one God, existing eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19)
Jesus Christ
The Son of God became incarnate in the Lord Jesus Christ, being born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. He died physically on the cross and was resurrected three days later. (John 1:1, 14, 18; I Cor. 15:1-5, John 20:20)
Salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift to man. The only means to our salvation is the belief in Christ’s substitutionary death, burial and resurrection. Man will face eternal judgment and can do nothing to merit salvation. (Rom. 4:4-5; John 3:16-18; Acts 13:38-39; Ephesians 2:8-9)
Sanctification
Sanctification is the ongoing process of allowing God's character to be developed in us. (Romans 6:19; Galatians 5:22-25)
Assurance
All who are born of the Spirit through faith in Christ can have assurance of salvation and are eternally secure in Christ. They cannot “lose” their salvation. (Rom. 5:1; John 10:27-29; John 6:37)
The Holy Spirit
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God. He dwells in every believer immediately after they place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and gives them power to develop the character of Christ and live according to God’s will. The Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, baptizes and seals all believers in Christ and empowers those yielded to God. (Rom. 8:9; Galatians 5:!6-19, Matthew 3:11)
Spiritual Gifts
Spiritual gifts are God-given abilities for service, i.e., for the equipping of the saints for the work of service to the building up of the body of Christ.” (I Cor. 12:4-13; I Pet. 4:10; Rom. 12:1-6)
Second Coming
The blessed hope of the church is the imminent return of Christ. The events of the return of Christ take place in the following order: the rapture of the church, the tribulation, the second advent, the establishment of the reign of Christ on earth for one thousand years, and finally the eternal state of punishment for the unsaved and the eternal state of blessing for the saved. (I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 3:10; Matt. 24:21, 29-30)
Man
Man is created in the image and likeness of God. In Adam, all mankind fell into sin with the result that all men are sinners. Without Jesus we cannot have a relationship with God. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 5:12; 3:23)
Healing
Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross provided healing for us today by Him taking on our sins. He grants divine physical, mental, emotional and spiritual restoration. (Matthew 9:35; Acts 10:38; Matthew 10:1)
OUR VALUES
Respect and Love: Do everything out of love. 1 John 3:18
Dedication and Excellency: Work unto God, not man. Colossians 3:23
